WHAT IF WE BECOME IMMORTAL?

WHAT IF WE BECOME IMMORTAL

Before we get into the consequences of indefinitely extending our life span let's take a look at how we would do it in the first place just over 100 years We considerable expended average human life expectancy by improving sanitation place safety and most importantly Healthcare treatments 4life threats injuries and and and we have eradicated some of the world's deadliest disease but if you want to extend our lifespan any further we will need to tackle the biggest biggest threat to our bodies ageing Google it's already begun thanks something and all thanks to something called crispr.

CRISPR  stand for clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat never heard of it yeah me neither let's back to the the expert.

so its an ability to cut and paste like on Microsoft Word the genome genome is the source code of life and you can cut it to turn off genome you can add genetic material and that is what allow us to rewrite genetic code having said that genetic code is incredibly complex so people should not imagine that we can just rewrite everything .

So if we can start editing out the genes that causes the most problem then one day we could theoretically live in a world where no one ever dies of old age would not to be the Great? Well don't get the excited because in reality it might not be the simple pros and cons and then we will see few still think it's a good idea.

the first Pro is a pretty obvious we would not lose as many of our loved ones would be able to live alongside generation of their descendants its families would have lots of support because parents could have many different grandparents Great grandparents great great grandparents and more to help raise new children we all lived forever people might care more about the future in that issue like climate  change would be more important to older people because they would be alive for the effects but as our expert aging is a complicated mix of things we won't be able to get rid of all the bad things at once even if get rid of some of the deadliest aspect of  ageing still have to deal with deteriorating bones muscles and minds

And that bring us to the cons sure we did all live  but what could is that we are suffering past a certain age the older people get the more care they would need we might not need hospitals as much but care facilities for older people would quickly to overwhelmed we would reproduce to the point that we would pass the limits of food supplies and other resources at this point there may be some push twin force birth control and that likely would not go over well cities would become overcrowded and civil unrest may be more prevalent and just to to be even more of a Donor, this is based on the idea entire planet collectively gaining access to this technology  that's not how it would happen more development wealthiest Nation would likely have access to this technology first they have head start in a population of super humans and that could be dangerous for the international relations

The questions for us is how do we use this technology wisely how do we use it wisely in a way that don't divide population the way that happened in the past like

when Europe had faster Technology advancement then other countries in the world used that to colonizes and kill all around the world if we don't want that we just need to make sure that our value guide the for most powerful Technology

So so regardless of whether or not you think this is a good idea one thing seems clear if we are going to some level of immortality then we need plan for everything that comes with it and maybe the plan should involve us to our neighboring red planet.
